Terms and Conditions of Use for the E-Service Portal
- The E-Service Portal https://eservice.ptb.de of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (hereinafter referred to as “PTB”) enables users to place a legally binding order or, within the framework of administrative services, to submit legally binding applications to PTB. Applications and orders can therefore be processed completely via the E-Service Portal. If the user uses the E-Service Portal, this communication channel is available for further processing.
- This also includes the provision of notifications, certificates, etc.
- PTB collects personal data as part of the process of placing orders and applications for the services offered by PTB via the E-Service Portal. Please see our Privacy Policy for information about our data protection policy (https://www.ptb.de/epm2023/rf46g/privacy-policy).
- For processing applications and orders submitted via the E-Service Portal, registration with an appropriate authentication method (e.g., a federal government’s user account (BundID) or an Elster company account (Elster-Unternehmenskonto)) may be required. Alternatively, a qualified electronic signature or handwritten signature for the application will enable processing in these cases.
- These Terms and Conditions of Use remain unaffected by PTB’s General Terms and Conditions (of Business) (AGB). The current version of these Terms and Conditions can be found here: https://www.ptb.de/cms/fileadmin/internet/dienstleistungen/agb/ptb_agb_en.pdf.
- The full range of metrological services can be retrieved here: https://www.ptb.de/cms/en/metrological-services/dienstleistungskatalog.html However, PTB is not liable if a service is not available via the E-Service Portal.
- Each user needs an administrative account to use the E-Service Portal. It will be activated by PTB. The Portal generates the correct application form for this purpose. This form has to be signed by an authorized signatory. This application form must be signed using a qualified electronic signature or signed by hand and sent to PTB by regular mail.
- Users are obliged to ensure that all information provided is correct and complete. Incorrect or incomplete information may lead to delays or rejections of the order or application. PTB will request missing documents via the inbox of the E-Service Portal.
- Users must have internet access and are responsible for using an up-to-date and secure browser.
- An electronic order or application usually consists of a web form and any required attachments. Valid file formats are, for example: MS Word formats (*.docx, *.doc, etc.), MS Excel formats (*.xlsx, *.xls, etc.), PDF formats (*.pdf), image formats (*.jpg, *.gif, *.tif, *.png, etc.) or text formats (*.txt).
- Users are responsible for using secure systems to access the Portal and keeping their access data confidential. If a user discovers that an unauthorized person has gained knowledge of the access data and thus accessed the Portal, they are obliged to change their password immediately or to inform PTB if they cannot (or can no longer) change their password on their own responsibility.
- In order to be able to place orders or applications via the E-Service Portal, each user needs a user account. Users must register at https://eservice.ptb.de. After successful registration, the user account must be assigned to an administrative account. The respective user can only submit applications and orders to PTB via the E-Service Portal if they are assigned to an administrative account. No orders or applications can be submitted via an administrative account.
- Each user is granted only one account to access the Portal. The email address which is provided for an administrative account must be different than the address that is provided for a user account.
- An administrative account or user account is deleted by the user sending a notification to PTB. However, an account cannot be deleted if the processing of an order or application has not yet been fully completed and handled.
- The E-Service Portal is generally available on a permanent basis. PTB, however, does not guarantee the availability of the E-Service Portal. PTB accepts no liability for any consequences of non-availability, interruptions or failures of the E-Service Portal. PTB reserves the right to interrupt or limit the use of the E-Service Portal for technical reasons. In such a case, PTB will inform its users on the homepage in the Current News section (“Aktuelle Meldungen”).
- PTB reserves the right to change or discontinue the availability of certain metrological services via the Portal. In this case, PTB will inform the users in good time in the Current News section (“Aktuelle Meldungen”). PTB may temporarily or permanently exclude a user from access to the E-Service Portal in the event of a breach of the Terms and Conditions of Use or in the event of misuse of the Portal.
- PTB reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions of Use and to adapt them to technical, organizational or legal developments and to extensions of the E-Service Portal. Users will be informed about changes of the Terms and Conditions of Use on the homepage in the Current News section (“Aktuelle Meldungen”).
